Albenga's old town is an excellent example of a medieval urban layout.

Historic events over the centuries left the oldest part of the town centre practically intact.
The heart of the town is a true medieval scene that is extraordinarily preserved: the skyline is marked with the Cathedral's bell tower, two red towers and other towers that earned Albenga the nickname "the San Gimignano of Liguria".

Strolling past olive groves that look out over the sea and vines growing out of the rock, you can still find ancient villages miraculously saved from concrete construction.
Stop for a while in these havens of tranquillity and enjoy the sun, the red geraniums, and the cool air scented with rosemary. You can then set back out on a search for other local treasures: traditional products that are now famous all over the world.

If you follow the "road of wines and oils from the Alps to the Sea", you can go shopping along the way and bring our best, natural souvenirs home: our delicate extra virgin olive oil, the tasty olives from Taggia, delicious pesto, light and fruity wines, purple asparagus and artichokes that have just been harvested, still warm from the hot sun.......
